『フリーメイスンリーは一党一派に偏するような事柄を議するための場ではありません。』 この寛容さゆえ、その存在を許されない共産圏諸国においてさえよく知られています。 フリーメイスンリーの活動として、メイスンのロッジは、その会員達にできる範囲内で、地域社会に貢献するような有意義な活動を行うことを奨励します。出来ないことをするようにとは教えていません。 日本にある２、３のロッジでは勤勉かつ有望な学生達に奨学金を支給しています。 また、孤児院や身障児施設への援助も行っているロッジも幾つもあり、あるロッジでは盲導犬の訓練の事業を後援しています。 ここ数年来、日本にある多数のロッジと他のメイスン関係諸団体とが共同して、ジャパン・タイムス社の主催する肢体不自由児歳末援助基金への大口寄付者となっています。 また、日本グランド・ロッジもその独自の事業として、眼の不自由な方々に視力回復の援助をしております。メイスンの関係諸団体を通じて、肢体不自由児や重度の火傷の負傷者の方々を援助する事業をメイスンが独自で推進しているのも事実です。 このように、メイスンが従事している活動について若干の事例を挙げてみましたが、善良な心を持ち合わせていれば分かるように、人と人とが力を合わせ、共にこの時代を生きていく勇気と智慧を身につけるため、教えあい、励ましあう、友愛の精神の団体だということです。
